Job Title: Compound Management & Automation Associate Scientist

Duration: 12+ months (extendable) contract on W2


Duties: 

As a member of the Compound Management & Automation Group (CMAG), the successful candidate will support compound fulfiment, disbursement, operation, development and validation of laboratory automation systems. The candidate will support de-installation, move, re-installation and validation of critical lab automation during the upcoming site relocation. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Support day-to-day compound handling workflows including prioritization and fulfillment of the daily workload, validation of laboratory equipment, management of laboratory supplies and periodic review of Standard Operating Procedures 
Serve as first point of contact to assist lab members in troubleshooting a variety of equipment, operational and logistical matters 
Support compound management tasks such as manual transfer and weighing of compounds in powder format, compound dissolution, and preparation of compound solutions in plated formats using manual and automated systems 
Support the group in the upcoming site relocation by de-installing, re-installing, validating critical equipment 
Provide lab automation support for liquid handlers, plate handling and screening systems 
Work closely with scientists and associates to transfer new assays and methods to automation platforms; provide training in the operation of the systems.

Skills: 

Minimum requirements: 
BS or BA degree in chemical or biological sciences or engineering with 3+ years of experience in compound management, laboratory automation, or technical laboratory work. 
Hands-on experience with activities related to compound management processes, with a practical understanding of inventory management, solution production, quality control methodology, logistics management and service oriented practices. 
Demonstrated troubleshooting skills with laboratory workstation and automation platforms, with particular emphasis on Agilent and Tecan automation platforms, BioMicroLab instrumentation and Mettler-Toledo analytical balances. Knowledge of Molecular Devices plate readers a plus 
Excellent interpersonal skills 
Excellent written, verbal and time management skills 
Proven ability to work both as both a team member and individual contributor 
Excellent attention to detail, keen observational skills and a commitment to quality

Education: 

BS or BA degree in chemical or biological sciences or engineering with 3+ years of experience in compound management, laboratory automation, or technical laboratory work.
